Experience Upper Hutt co-ordinates retail activities in the CBD. The organisation - launched in 2006 - involves all stakeholders in its activities and decision-making - including retailers and other business owners; building owners; and regular users of the area, such as shoppers, youth and older people.
Some of the initiatives run by Experience Upper Hutt are:
- Upper Hutt Farmers' Market is open from 9am to 1pm EVERY Sunday, rain or shine! Come along and continue giving us your support
- We gifted to Upper Hutt City the installation "Autumn Reflections" - the first in a series of four sculptures designed to represent the Four Seasons
- 'Paint the Town', a partnership with Wattyl to provide building owners with a $500 paint subsidy to spruce up their building
- An education campaign for retailers to advise them how they can boost security, for example, using improved lighting and shop displays
