Our Vision
The vision statement expresses what Experience Upper Hutt Incorporated will achieve as an organisation and paints a picture of the ideal future that Experience Upper Hutt Incorporated will work towards.
To assist in the growth of Upper Hutt’s economy by making Upper Hutt’s retail centre a unique shopping, dining and leisure destination.
Experience Upper Hutt (EUH) is mostly funded through rates collected by the Upper Hutt City Council. EUH was incorporated on the 21st of February 2006 under the Incorporated Societies Act 1908.
EUH is governed by a committee that consists of no fewer that 8 person’s - two of whom are appointed annually by the Upper Hutt City Council - with the balance being elected at each annual general meeting of the Society. The committee elects a Chairperson and Treasurer from amongst the members or can choose to co-op said position onto the committee. The quorum for meetings of the committee shall be four (4) members and was formed out of the Upper Hutt Main Street Committee using seeding funding from the Upper Hutt City Council.
Since incorporation EUH has completed the following initiatives:
- We gifted to Upper Hutt City the installation "Autumn Reflections" - the first in a series of four sculptures designed to represent the Four Seasons.
- 'Paint the Town', a partnership with Wattyl to provide building owners with a $500 paint subsidy to spruce up their building.
- An education campaign for retailers to advise them how they can boost security, for example, using improved lighting and shop displays.
- A monthly e-newsletter to keep the city informed on what's going on. If you would like to receive a copy, please click here.
